CENTURION™ OZIL™ HANDPIECE:

    Within the CENTURION™ OZIL™ handpiece Directions for Use, there is no specification or requirement for orientation of the handpiece during sterilization. The validation methods used for the CENTURION™ OZIL™ handpieces comply with all AAMI and ISO standards (ISO 11138-1/-3, ISO 17665-1, AAMI TIR 12, ISO 14161, AAMI ST79). Alcon has validated the Centurion OZiL handpiece in a horizontal position.

    The CENTURION™ OZIL™ HANDPIECE is not limited to a number of uses. As stated in the Directions for Use (DFU), reuse is limited by physical damage and failure of pre-surgical check cycle. Each time the handpiece is connected to the driving console, it performs a check cycle. If the handpiece performs improperly and fails the check cycle, remove it from the driving console and return it to Alcon for evaluation. Before each use, the handpiece and power cord should be inspected for damage (e.g. nicks, crimps, dents and exposed wires). If the handpiece is damaged it should be immediately removed from service. Use of a damaged handpiece may result in serious permanent patient injury.

    DUOVISC™

      DUOVISC™ is not made with natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.

      During filling of the viscoelastic syringe, a small amount of air can remain in the syringe tip. This amount of air can easily be flushed out when following the instructions for use as mentioned in the package insert. In order to avoid that this air migrates into the body of the syringe we recommend that the syringe is stored upright.

      Alcon stability studies indicate that orientation of the syringe filled with OVD product has no effect on the product’s physicochemical stability and additionally indicate that the product should be stored upright and given time to allow the air bubble to move back to the end of the syringe prior to use in surgery.

      VISCOAT™

        VISCOAT™ is not made with natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.

            BSS

              BSS Sterile Irrigating Solution does not contain latex or dry natural rubber and is considered latex-free. The butyl stoppers are made from a synthetic material.

              Alcon does not recommend use of expired product as safety and efficacy have not been established.

              BSS Plus

                BSS Plus does not contain latex or dry natural rubber and is considered latex-free. The butyl stoppers are made from a synthetic material.

                CLAREON™

                  CLAREON™ intraocular lenses do not contain metallic properties and are considered MRI-compatible.

                  Alcon does not recommend use of expired product as safety and efficacy have not been established.

                  ACRYSOF™

                    ACRYSOF™ intraocular lenses do not contain metallic properties and are considered MRI-compatible.

                    The ACRYSOF™ IOL is not made with natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.

                    Vision Care

                     

                    SYSTANE™

                      SYSTANE™ drops are not made with natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.

                      SYSTANE™ is intended for use in adults 18 years and older.
                      Per the product labeling, SYSTANE™ must be kept out of the reach of children.
                      The safety and efficacy of SYSTANE™ in children have not been established.

                      AIR OPTIX™

                        AIR OPTIX™ (lotrafilcon B) soft contact lenses are not designed to block ultra-violet (UV) light. AIR OPTIX™ does not contain a UV-absorbing ingredient to absorb ultraviolet light.

                        DAILIES TOTAL1™

                          DAILIES TOTAL1™ (delefilcon A) contact lenses and packaging are not made with natural rubber latex or dry natural rubber.

                          Thimerosal is not part of the formulation of DAILIES TOTAL1™ (delefilcon A) or its packaging solution.

                          DAILIES™ AQUACOMFORT™ PLUS

                            The DAILIES™ AQUACOMFORT™ Plus (nelfilcon A) soft contact lens contains 31% nelfilcon A and 69% water. The light blue handling tint contains Cu-phthalocyanine.

                            Contact Lens (CL)

                              When about to place the lens on the eye, make sure the lens sits up on the placement finger. The finger should be dry so surface tension does not cause the lens to adhere to the finger.

                              Check to see that the lens is right side out. A lens that is placed on the eye inside out may not feel comfortable or provide good vision.


                              Method 1:
                              One way to do this is to perform the 'taco test' by placing the lens between your thumb and index finger and squeeze the edges together gently.

                              If the edges come together, the lens is right side out.

                              If the edges turn outward, the lens is wrong side out. Carefully reverse it with your fingers.


                              Correct and Incorrect-Image


                              Method 2:
                              Another way is to place the lens on the tip of your index finger and check its shape.

                              If the edge appears bowl-shaped, it is right side out.

                              If the edge has a lip or flares outward, it is wrong side out and must be reversed.
