ICAPS
As stated on the ICAPS label, “If you are taking anticoagulants (blood thinners) or other medications, use this product only on the advice of your physician.”
Many food supplements, including those containing vitamin E and or omega 3, as well as changes in diet can have a theoretical effect on the control of anticoagulation.
Alcon does not provide medical advice. The patient’s eye care practitioner and anticoagulant prescribing physician may wish to work together to determine the correct treatment based on the individual conditions for the patient.
ANATERA / FLUORESCITE
Given the sensitivity and specificity of skin testing, a negative skin test is not proof that a patient is not allergic to fluorescein.
Reactions of intolerance may be unpredictable but more frequent in patients who have previously experienced an adverse reaction after fluorescein injection (symptoms other than nausea and vomiting) or in patients with history of allergy or bronchial asthma.
The benefit of the fluorescein angiography should be balanced with the risk of severe hypersensitivity reactions (with fatal outcome in some cases). An emergency tray should be available in the event of possible reaction to fluorescein sodium solution for injection.
It is known that intradermal skin tests have limited predictive value for serious intolerance reactions to fluorescein. Fluorescein intolerance reactions can occur following a negative intradermal skin test.
Alcon cannot make individual patient treatment recommendations. A treatment decision is at the discretion of the Healthcare Professional and has to be made on a case-by-case basis after careful evaluation of the associated benefits and risks.

During filling of the viscoelastic syringe, a small amount of air can remain in the syringe tip. This amount of air can easily be flushed out when following the instructions for use as mentioned in the package insert. In order to avoid that this air migrates into the body of the syringe we recommend that the syringe is stored upright.
Alcon stability studies indicate that orientation of the syringe filled with OVD product has no effect on the product’s physicochemical stability and additionally indicate that the product should be stored upright and given time to allow the air bubble to move back to the end of the syringe prior to use in surgery.

Contact Lens (CL)
When about to place the lens on the eye, make sure the lens sits up on the placement finger. The finger should be dry so surface tension does not cause the lens to adhere to the finger.
Check to see that the lens is right side out. A lens that is placed on the eye inside out may not feel comfortable or provide good vision.
Method 1:
One way to do this is to perform the 'taco test' by placing the lens between your thumb and index finger and squeeze the edges together gently.
If the edges come together, the lens is right side out.
If the edges turn outward, the lens is wrong side out. Carefully reverse it with your fingers.

Method 2:
Another way is to place the lens on the tip of your index finger and check its shape.
If the edge appears bowl-shaped, it is right side out.
If the edge has a lip or flares outward, it is wrong side out and must be reversed.
